We believe in the personal, bodily return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, in God’s appointed time, demands our constant expectancy and motivates followers of Jesus to holy living, sacrificial service and energetic mission. We believe that Christ rose bodily the third day according to the Scriptures; that He ascended to the right hand of the Father; that He alone is our High Priest, and that this same Jesus which was taken up into heaven will return to the earth in like manner, bodily, personally, and visibly. The dead in Christ shall all be changed and rise in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet. There will be 7 years of tribulation and Christ will usher in a 1000 year reign (or Millennium) where He shall reign with a rod of iron. City Church considers the subject of the the End Times as a lesser doctrinal issue that need not be divisive. There is room for thoughtful disagreement between serious students of Scripture on the timing of the events foretold in Scripture, while at the same time maintaining agreement that they will happen. That said, we acknowledge the positions of our brothers and sisters in Christ who see a pre-tribulation or post-tribulation model in the Scriptures and hold fast to the truth that Jesus is coming again and every knee will bow before Him (Philippians 2:10, Romans 14:11).  (Matt. 28:6-7; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:4,25; Acts 1:9-11; 9:29-30; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Phil 3:20-21; Rev. 20:1-4,6)
